TAT: More pretty for your BlackBerry

null

Ahoy, fellow BlackBerry fanboys! Yesterday we missed a bit of big news for RIM. RIM has just acquired The Astonishing Tribe (TAT), a company with the potential to revolutionize the BlackBerry UI. With TAT on the team, it is becoming more and more obvious that RIM does not take the future lightly and is in the smartphone game for the long haul. With a WebKit browser, courtesy of Torch Mobile and a promising new team (who probably worked on the Tab) improving how we interact with our BlackBerry’s menus, the future looks bright for our slick, QWERTY friends. Check out the video below for some of the impressive work from TAT, and a preview of what we may be looking forward to!

BlackBerry Theme Studio 6 Leaked Screenshots

bts6beta041

BerryReview got an anonymous tip, along with some screenshots of the upcoming BlackBerry Theme Studio, which is expected to launch at DevCon, just like the previous version 5 did last year. It’s nice to see, yet no new features are planned except for it bringing support for BlackBerry 6. Usually, I don’t like themes because there’s always a little something that just doesn’t look the way I want to have it, still I’m always pretty excited about doing a theme on my own, although I never did. What about you? If you’re device gets updated to BlackBerry 6, will you do a theme of your very own for it?

If you have any interesting findings, feel free to share. Check out the full set of pics over at BerryReview.com.

The BBerryDog theme is coming in assorted colors, now available for 83xx

bbdred9700

There were a few of you requesting the BBerryDog theme in different colors, so we’re (when I say we’re I mean Don from Dream Themez) here to deliver. As of right now the only other color available is crimson from Today’s iPhone, but they will be coming in the assorted colors associated with PhoneDog’s network sites, TmoNews, Today’s iPhone, and DroidDog. (Therefore, green, fuchsia, and orange are left as you can see in the picture below.)

PhoneDog

To download your new, red BBerryDog theme, click here. As of right now it’s only available for the 85xx, 96xx, and 9700. Also, we have also received quite a few requests for a BBerryDog theme for the 83xx series. Your wait is over! You can now download the red version here from your BlackBerry Browser (blue version pending). Don is spread pretty thin between work, being a contributing editor, and making themes, so if the color you’re waiting for is not available yet, it is coming, but it may take a little longer than originally expected. He is working diligently on these themes for us and we want to make sure there is a flavor out there for everyone. So anyone who wants to show a bit of gratitude, you can follow Don on Twitter, or ask us about how you can donate. Also, if you’re an MMA fan like many of us here at BBerryDog and Don, check out Don’s other theme site Dream Themez MMA, and Unfiltered MMA where Don is a contributing editor.

Free apps to keep you current on South Africa FIFA World Cup 2010

fifa2010_logo621

Seeing that the FIFA World Cup 2010 held in South Africa starts tomorrow (6/11), I figured I would clue you in on how you can stay current on your FIFA news and your favorite team. If you need help keeping up with your team, there are five applications available for download for your BlackBerry, free of charge. RIMarkable gives report of three, but you may recall us, here at BBerryDog, talking of a different one early last week, s42 Mundial Futbol 2010, from ZonaBlackBerry and s42. After we found out about Mundial Futbol 2010, I didn’t expect to see much more in the terms of BlackBerry applications for FIFA 2010, but boy was I wrong.

Hit the link to view all the applications available.

Remember me telling everyone about Dream Themez? Well, being the seemingly awesome person Don is, he offered to make a BBerryDog theme for us! Right now it is not available for public download, but it will be available tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest. It is a very clean looking theme, very fast, and most importantly, has a nice, big BBerryDog logo in the middle of the homescreen! Another screenshot and some more information after the break!

Dream Themez for your BlackBerry!

JokerDreamTheme

Since it was a rather slow news day, I thought I would elaborate on a good way to customize your BlackBerry. A few customers I have ran into in the past few shifts of mine at my other job have complained to me about how their BlackBerry wasn’t very customizable. For the average user, it isn’t. Themes aren’t the easiest thing to find, installing them can be tedious if you don’t know what you’re doing, and RIM doesn’t really promote the use of themes outside of App World.

A few days ago I was browsing through Twitter and I stumbled upon what is Dream Themez by Donald Conrod, or @i_c_u_hater on Twitter. I’ve personally lost my interest in themes due to my being very picky and I can’t seem to find or make exactly what I want. So, I gave up and I just stick to stock, or pretty darn close to it. Even though I can’t get past my own pickiness, Donald’s Dream Themez are very nice, high quality themes. He has themes for the Storm/Storm2, Bold 9700 and 9000, Tour, Curve, Pearl, Pearl Flip, and a section for ladies only. If you’ve been in the market for some customization, hit up Dream Themez, you may find what you’ve been looking for there.

You can find Dream Themez by clicking here, and you can follow Donald on Twitter for updates on his themes.

Themes begin to appear in the BlackBerry App World

Capture18_2_1

After a long wait, themes have officially arrived in the BlackBerry App World.  Entries are sparse, but it’s certainly a welcome category.  Designers have been notified to begin categorizing their themes by type, so you should see more entries in the coming days.  The full launch is expected on December 14th.  Want to design a theme and have it appear in the BlackBerry App World?  Head over to BlackBerry for more information.

Visto Themes announces new themes for the Bold 9700

9700themes

Want your Bold to look like OS X?  How about Android?  Or what about a sleek, classy desktop?  Thanks to Visto Themes, you can trick out your new device with a completely customizable theme – home screen, icons, menus, and all.  Personally, I’m a fan of the stock OS 5.0, but it provides another option for those who aren’t.

All three of the themes can be had for $7 at the CrackBerry App Store.
