While this isn’t the biggest thing in the world, it’s a dinosaur bone for those pups eagerly awaiting that *ahem* GORGEOUS device that we’ve seen in pictures up to this point. The foreshadowing of events that often comes in the Genie system has yet to fail us, and today I cannot say I’m satisfied any less. The Storm 3 has shown up in said system, pointing to the fact that we can expect to see the Storm 3 soon. If all goes well, it may even show up before the holiday season!

While the Storm 3 hasn’t been officially announced, and little is known about it, the pictures have put it on a pedestal for me. According to several reliable sources, we can almost surely expect the QNX operating system on the device. This, above all, excites me. We can only hope that this phone is as awesome as it looks, because RIM needs a lifeline. If nothing else, we need a phone that makes Taylor drop his sushi addiction to save up some money for it.

Ahoy, fellow BlackBerry fanboys! Yesterday we missed a bit of big news for RIM. RIM has just acquired The Astonishing Tribe (TAT), a company with the potential to revolutionize the BlackBerry UI. With TAT on the team, it is becoming more and more obvious that RIM does not take the future lightly and is in the smartphone game for the long haul. With a WebKit browser, courtesy of Torch Mobile and a promising new team (who probably worked on the Tab) improving how we interact with our BlackBerry’s menus, the future looks bright for our slick, QWERTY friends. Check out the video below for some of the impressive work from TAT, and a preview of what we may be looking forward to!

It’s no surprise to see some PlayBook shots in the latest Black Eyes Peas videos, since Will.I.Am is a hardcore BlackBerry user and so it seems he’s already got a PlayBook. The video was posted to his Dipvide website featuring a PlayBook every now and then. Take a look and give us your thoughts in the comments.

It looks like RIM has finally decided to step up their game and start competing with Android, iPhone, etc. All of the following information is based on rumors and hearsay. Diversifying fact from fiction is impossible at this point in time, so take this all with 1.2×10^9 molecules of NaCl.

One thing we can almost guarantee is that the refresh to the Storm 2 (also known as the Odin Refresh) is a scrapped project. However, there is still rumor of a Storm 3. If you didn’t see the original article on the Storm 3, click here to see it. Like all BlackBerrys, the Storm 3 must adopt a crappy nickname before it is released so that RIM can dazzle us with unintelligible bologna that will only make sense when the phone is actually announced… but, I digress. The Storm 3′s super-awesome codename is the “Monaco”. Don’t ask us why because, to be honest, we have no clue.

However, here comes my favorite part of this news. There have been to pictures in relatively rapid succession from Mr. 1.3-megapixel, non-autofocus man himself of a BlackBerry Bold totally devoid of a trackpad. Instead, it seems that this Bold will sport a touchscreen, similar to what we saw on the Torch (minus the sliding mechanism). This phone has been codenamed Montana and pegged as the Bold 9900. Above is something of an artists rendition, and not an actual picture.

I have to say that I am extremely curious about both the Monaco and Montana, but the Montana in particular. I think it’s an awesome idea, but RIM needs to really deliver on this one if it is to be a success. With the holiday season quickly approaching, a fire needs to be lit under RIM’s behind.

UPDATE: Thanks to everybody for their suggestions. The winning name is Flicker. Special thanks goes to JohnnyQuest and pantlesspenguin for submitting the winning answer.

The latest rumored device to grace our presence is not all that impressive. It’s said to be a low end, entry level slider that bares a striking resemblance to the Torch 9800. That is, it would be a smaller version of the Torch without a full qwerty keyboard. On this small Torch (I’ll call it a match for now) we could see a T9 keypad like the BlackBerry Pearl 9105 or even a SureType keyboard. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Hasn’t Rim put out enough low end, entry level devices already. Do you think anyone would be interested in buying this? Let’s have a little fun. Whoever comes up with the most creative name for this small Torch, I will rename the post in their honor. I’ll keep it going until Saturday night. Also, if you like someone else’s name, just vote for it in your reply. Comment below.

I love rumors, especially around the holidays. The latest rumor comes to us courtesy of BestBoyz.de, (a smartphone blog site) and has caught fire. They happen to have in their possession a leaked German Vodafone’s inventory system screenshot for a battery door sporting the number 9900BB. Now none of this has been confirmed, but it definitely stirs the imagination. The BlackBerry 9900 was first mentioned back in 2009 (codename: Magnum/Dakota), and was forgotten about until August 2010. That was when the Dell App Store was spotted selling apps for the BlackBerry 9900 (codename: Pluto), and it’s now widely accepted that the 9900 became what we know today as the BlackBerry Torch 9800. With this latest rumor the BB 9900 pops back up on the radar with yet another codename, Montana. “You gotta love codenames”.

Let me refresh your memory a bit about the rumored specs for the BlackBerry 9900. It was said to be Bold like in appearance, but with a larger, higher resolution, 3-4 inch touch screen. Have a full qwerty non-slider keyboard, updated processor, camera and ram. Keep in mind though, everything I just mentioned is unofficial. That being said, this thing is freakin sweet!

What do you think? Is this just more or less typos? Or, do you think there is some truth to this mystery device? I know what I think, but we want to hear from you. Is this a form factor you would like to see? Leave your comments below.

Best Buy has released a sales ad showcasing the BlackBerry Bold 9780 along with pricing from Bell, Rogers, and Virgin Mobile. It breaks down like this, on a 3-year contract the Bold 9780 will run you $149.99. If you choose not to go with a contract, the 9780 will set you back $499.99. The latest rumor for a release date is November the 9th, but this has not been confirmed.

It’s been noted that Telus is the only Canadian provider not included in the above ad. Here is the thing though, when I go to Best Buy’s website and search for the Bold 9780, Telus is the only carrier that pops up. Telus is showing a 3-year contract with the phone costing only $99.99. Without a contract the price is $499.99. Here is the official description on Best Buy’s website.

With these price announcements showing up, you can count on a release date manifesting itself any day now. The question I have is this, with leaks dropping every other day for OS 6, is it worth picking this up when it becomes available, or will you simply install OS 6 on your 9700, and pass on the 9780? Leave your comments below.

Rebate forms are often a carrier or manufacturers way of leaking a little tidbit out, whether accidental or not. The latest rebate from from Verizon shows two new SKU’s regarding the 9650. While this is purely speculation, we can safely assume that the 9650 may soon see BlackBerry 6! If that is the case, this will be the first Bold device to get bumped up, and on the carrier that seems to be notoriously slow with upgrades no less!

So how many of you have a 9650 and are looking for a nice upgrade? Also, if you plan on staying with OS5, let us know in the comments below!
