The rumor mill has started up once again. This time around the BlackBerry Curve 8980 is heading to China Mobile and while it doesn’t feature 3G it does provide support for Wi-Fi. The BlackBerry Bold 9700 will also be hitting China Mobile which will offer some variety when choosing your next BlackBerry device. The Bold 9700 has 256MB of RAM, 3.2 megapixel camera, and a high-resolution 480 x 360 pixel color display. The 8980 is the same form factor with a Curve-style keyboard. From what rumors we’ve heard about the Atlas before, the only differences between the 9700 and the 8980 are the 3G capabilities and the keyboard. We will keep you posted as more info is released.

“O Canada, Our home and native land” may soon become the BlackBerry Torch 9800 theme song. Virgin Mobile, Telus, Bell, and Rogers have announced that they will all be launching the BlackBerry Torch on September 24th. While pricing has not been confirmed, it is expected to be $199.99 on a three year contract. We will keep you posted on all the latest information as it becomes available. For now you can follow these links to get more information on your specific carrier.
The BlackBerry Torch in my opinion, is the best Blackberry on the market right now. From its capacitive touch screen, to its world class keyboard and BlackBerry 6, the Torch should definetly be on your list of devices to check out if your planning on purchasing a phone in the near future. Let us know what your opinions are on the BlackBerry Torch 9800, leave your comments below.

For a couple of months now, consumers have been anxiously waiting to receive any news regarding the rumored BlackBerry clamshell device, especially the die hard flip phone audience that are not going to settle for the new generation of the latest smartphones to be released. Well here is a little snipet that is sure to get your blood pumping. The BlackBerry clamshell will be branded in a class all of its own, and that class will be called Style (no pun intended). Jitterbug users better watch out, there’s a new sheriff in town and he is taking no prisoners. On a good note though, the 9670 clamshell will come equipped with BlackBerry 6 installed. I for one can’t wait to get my hands on this bad boy, others are not so enthusiastic.

How about it flip phone enthusiasts? What name would you have given the BlackBerry 9670 clamshell if it were up to you? Sound off below.

Cellmania is a company that runs behind the scenes without too much recognition. They are responsible for creating the mobile application storefronts that can be seen on many of today’s operating systems (such as Android, Symbian, and Java). RIM purchased Cellmania today, although the terms and conditions lying therein are not known to us.

According to their site, Cellmania will continue doing what they’ve been doing, only it will be exclusively with RIM. Cellmania provides a habitat for those who develop content and that which said content is developed for. Hopefully, this will be used to up-the-ante on BlackBerry’s app world, as Cellmania’s expertise in the area is brought into play.

Despite App World 2.0 being released mere days ago, we can only hope that RIM is taking the bull by the horns and working to create a more user friendly experience for it’s users. Furthermore, I think I smell another update, or even App World 3.0, on it’s way! So what would you like to see in the next installment of App World, pups? A faster experience, more organization, better search? Let us know in the comments below!

For those of you on the Sprint network, rejoice! That odd looking BlackBerry we know as the 9670 Oxford is back, and this time we’re compiling all the specs that we’ve got. For those of you who don’t remember, the Oxford is a clamshell device sporting a QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, GPS, 5 megapixel camera, 240×320 external display, 360×400 internal display, and the optical trackpad.

Despite the reaction of many a BlackBerry user and fanboy, I must admit I actually like the idea of this phone (but not the phone itself). A decent QWERTY clamshell is difficult to come buy, unless you want to compromise with a piece of junk that has no other redeeming qualities. Sticking the full BlackBerry keyboard into a flip-phone formfactor just made this thing look like a Pearl Flip that ate way too much sushi and pizza (ahem, Taylor).

Back in April, RIM made a curious 200 million dollar investment in QNX Software Systems. While it wasn’t a very conspicuous investment, and it remained nearly unmentioned, a big dollar amount such as this did raise some question. The main one being, ‘Why?’. Enter the BlackPad, RIM’s first tablet attempt. While some speculated that the BlackPad would be running a mere BlackBerry 6 upgrade, it turns out that QNX and RIM will be teaming up to make an entirely new operating system for the tablet.

While not much is known about this mysterious operating system, I don’t know if this was the best move on RIM’s part. BlackBerry 6 has been RIM’s baby for the past few months. The other day, I finally got the chance to play with a Torch that wasn’t stuck in the AT&T store. Although not perfect, BlackBerry 6 is very smooth, fast, and a major upgrade from the OS 5.0 nonsense some of us have grown bored with. With all the hype that RIM played up on BlackBerry 6, I don’t know why they would throw it all away on something new that could possibly be a terrible failure.

Nipping at the heels their release of the Blackberry Bold 9650, U.S.Cellular wastes no time in getting out their first update. Available today, OS 5.0.0.810 has just went live on RIM’s website. Talk about perfect timing! Sprint and Verizon Bold 9650 owners can join in on the fun as well. Remember, if you’re not on US Cellular, delete the vendor.xml file. For help on how to backup your data, head over to our How-To-Guide section if you have any questions. We know the official release of BlackBerry 6 for the Bold 9650 is on its way, but the question is who will be the first to release it? Personally, I can’t wait to have that slick new OS installed on my Bold. You can download OS 5.0.0.810 for the BlackBerry Bold 9650 here.
