BlackBerry 6 and 9800 slider on camera again

The BlackBerry 9800 slider leaks have begun to turn into something resembling a torrent, with The Berry Fix posting a three minute and forty second video showing off both the 9800 and BlackBerry 6. The device is featuring an AT&T splash screen, which would seem to confirm what we’ve long suspected to be the launch day carrier. This is our best look at BlackBerry 6 yet, and while we have some concerns about the fluidity of all that swiping, things are looking promising.

BlackBerry Bold 9800 images leaked, show off Webkit browser

webkit21

It’s always pleasant to wake up to a nice BlackBerry leak, and today’s is no exception.  A Cellular Guru tipster has managed to lay hands on a BlackBerry 9800 slider, and has released a few images showing off the new Webkit browser, and the BlackBerry 6 operating system. The browser seems to have a nice page-switching setup, and the 100% on the Acid3 test suggests RIM is taking this whole browsing thing seriously. The device is definitively looking to be a touchscreen (which has long been the rumor), and it looks as though SurePress has been left out (no real need, with the physical keyboard available) this time.

Of particular interest to those of us here at BBerryDog, is a small, relatively fuzzy photo (after the break, along with two other, much clearer shots), that shows the memory screen. Unless thine eyes are deceiving me, the 9800 in question has 3.2 gigabytes of free application memory! This would be an extraordinary step forward for RIM, who, as to date never released a device with more than 512 megabytes (and that’s the brand new Bold 9650). We’ll take this one with a grain of salt for now, but that prospect definitely has us excited. Check after the break for more photos, and let us know what you think in the comments!

Rumor: Storm 3 to be released later this year?

Blackberry Storm 2

So a rumor came out of nowhere today claiming that there will be two more iterations of the BlackBerry Storm. Some love the series, some hate it (more on the hate side from all of the SurePress issues), but we would all love to see the thing succeed. It’s good to see that RIM has continued developing a somewhat failed technology and trying to improve it and get it to where it should have been when it hit the market.

The Storm 3 is said to be hitting the market later this year, shipping with BlackBerry 6, and the Storm 4 possibly next year. The specifications on these two are purely speculation, but we will hope to see all of the most up-to-date hardware with them, and a flawless version of SurePress. Things like a 5MP camera, a minimum of 516MB storage, and faster processors will be almost required for these two to sell amongst all of the Android-powered devices, iPhone iterations, and possible future webOS devices to come.

I don’t know about you, but I would love to see the option to turn SurePress on and off. It is beneficial in many ways, but is inconvenient in just about the same. What are your thoughts on the Storm 3 and 4? What would you like to see?

Video of new BlackBerry “Magnum” prototype

The guys over at thecellularguru.com have put up a video of the new prototype from RIM called the Magnum.  They released pictures a few weeks ago, and this video proves that the pictures weren’t fake.  This is like RIMs crossover device, a mix between the traditional QWERTY keyboard and the new SurePress technology introduced with the Storm.  The Magnum looks a lot like the original Bold 9000, with a few minor changes.  Not sure about the hardware inside the phone but physically almost the same with the addition of Micro USB and removal of the trackball.  I am curious to know if the screen is going to be like the original Storm, with the one button under the screen or like the new Storm2 which uses Piezo technology.  What does everyone think about this video?  Would you buy a BlackBerry that had a full QWERTY keyboard and a touchscreen?
