Verizon offers push-to-talk free through June 30th for Tour users

BBTOURPTT

Not too long ago Verizon rolled out a push-to-talk (PTT) service for BlackBerry Tour (9630) users back at the end of March. We are now getting word that Verizon has started a very enticing offer. If a Tour user signs up for the PTT service prior to June 30th, the service will remain free for the life of the contract. Essentially, this is a good indicator that the PTT service didn’t quite gain traction as anticipated.

Even if you don’t plan on using PTT now, if think you might use the services in the future, I would sign up for it while the offer still stands! If you haven’t received an email from Verizon about PTT yet, you can learn more about it here.

NFL_Mobile_VZW-20100419-170539-859

So, I get out of class this evening and viola, Verizon has pushed NFL Mobile to my Tour. I’m not sure what all devices this is being pushed to, but I would assume it is all BlackBerry devices on their network. I remember word last week of Verizon planning to release the application for BlackBerry, and it seems like they delivered this one. I know a lot of people will be happy to hear about this one! Some screen captures and a small description are available after the jump!

Push to Talk available for Verizon BlackBerry Tour on March 30th

BBTOURPTT

There are many people that will be excited to get their hands on this one, others will just shrug it off. There have been rumors floating around for the past week or so about the Verizon BlackBerry Tour getting PTT. This is a neat little offer from Big Red.  While it doesn’t benefit everyone, it definitely can be put to some good use by a lot of Verizon Tour owners. The Verizon employee training for PTT has began and it will officially be available to Tour users on March 30th as a feature for an additional $5 per month.

OS 5.0.0.548 found online for Tour 9630

blackberry-tour-1

Another leak has been found online for the Tour. It’s OS 5.0.0.548 this time around. There for a while, back in October-December. Every OS imaginable was leaking for every other device except the 9630, even the Pearl Flip. Now, it seems like there is nearly a leaked OS every week for the Tour. That’s good, I’m glad to see they haven’t completely abandoned the Tour.

Anyways, to download the OS click hereIf you don’t know how to install a leaked/beta OS, hang tight. A How-To guide on the OS installation process is coming very soon, I promise.

Beta OS: 5.0.0.530 for the BlackBerry Tour 9630

verizon-blackberry-tour-9630

The guys over at BBLeaks are on top of these beta OS leaks.  This time we have OS 5.0.0.530 for the BlackBerry Tour 9630.  We are still waiting on an official 5.0 release from Verizon, the experts say that is when the 9650 will be released.  In the mean time I will just enjoy the new beta leaks.  To install this on your Tour make sure you delete the vendor.xml file and remember this is NOT official, install at your own risk.

Official OS 5.0.0.484 released for the Tour 9630 from Sprint

This update for your Tour is available through Desktop Manager. There is no download for it just yet. It’s only available from Desktop Manager at the moment. While this is good news for Sprint Tour owners, it’s utterly frustrating for Tour owners on Verizon. Hopefully it won’t be too long before they roll out the big 5.0. If you’re currently on Sprint and are still running OS 4.7, plug your BlackBerry and update it to 5.0. You will thank me later! Enjoy!

Blackberry Tour

Alltel releases their official OS 5.0.0.419 for the BlackBerry Tour.  This has been leaked out for a while and I believe it was working well for everyone, I am currently running it on my Verizon Tour and it works pretty good.  The question now is, what is Verizon Wireless waiting for?  If you have a Tour and haven’t upgraded to 5.0 yet, feel free to download this and try it out.  To download follow the link below and select your device from the drop down list.

Blackberry Tour 9630 not returning to Best Buy?

Blackberry Tour

According to some inside information over at the Boy Genius Report it looks like the Tour could be leaving the shelves of Best Buy.  Once they sell out they won’t be getting anymore in stock.  Maybe Best Buy has some inside information from RIM.

Although he doesn’t get carrier specific, could this be true?  Does this tell us that the new Tour2 (Essex) will be hitting the shelves in its place?  I am currently using my Tour and I am anxiously waiting for the Essex to be released.  What do all the Tour users out there think about this?
