White BlackBerry Torch 9800 and Bold 9780 dummy units show up at Rogers Wireless

The white BlackBerry Torch 9800 and Bold 9780 dummy units have been spotted at Rogers Wireless, and both looking very enticing. The Torch 9800 will set you back $229.99 on a 3-year contract, and the Bold 9780 will run $149.99 for 3-years. The actual devices will be arriving shortly, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. As soon as launch date information becomes available I will update this post.

Love the white Bold 9780, but to me these prices seem kinda high for a 3-year contract. Do they seem high to you, or is this normal? Comment below.

AT&T introduces red and white BlackBerry Torch 9800

AT&T now offers the BlackBerry Torch in two additional colors, red and white. Not only that, the Torch will be offered in all three colors for only $99.99. Red, white, and black, ”hmmm”, blue anyone? Anyway, that white is looking pretty sweet to me.  How about you? Let us know in the comments which color you like the best. Thanks.

AT&T confirms red and white BlackBerry Torch 9800 coming November 7th

As already expected, AT&T finally confirmed the release of the white and red BlackBerry Torch. They’re going to launch November 7th, as announced in their holiday press release. No words on pricing yet but unless there’s going to be a holiday promotion, thy’ll pretty much be the same as the BlackBerry Torch already available from AT&T – so it’s $199.99 with a new 2 year contract.

Personally, I’m a fan of the white Torch, although my white Bold 9700 turned blue after some time. What do you guys think? Do you prefer the original design or do you like the red or white better?

BlackBerry Protect now available for the Torch

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 is now supported in the latest beta release of BlackBerry Protect. Version 1.0.8.11 includes enhancements and fixes not addressed in prior versions. Here is a list of some of the fixes that have been corrected.

  • Browser bookmarks stored in sub folders were not backed up.
  • When you set or change your device password through the BlackBerry Protect web site, a password validation message was displayed before you finished typing the password.
  • The label in the search field was misaligned in some browsers.
  • If you had selected no data types to be backed up in the BlackBerry Protect application and attempted to back up data through the BlackBerry Protect website, a message was displayed saying that the device was not connected to the wireless network.

You can head on over to the Beta Zone right now and see all that the new version has to offer. Just click on this link here for instant access. Also let us know what enhancements you find, and let us know how you like the new version.

BlackBerry Torch update supposed to supercharge the experience

Torch users, AT&T is throwing you a huge bone.  Despite the fact that you’ve been able to surpass all the current BlackBerrys in, well, everything, you’re about to get another performance boost.  The PR release states that those who upgrade will have:

  • Browser – faster page loading and improved panning
  • User input – handled more efficiently, improved responsiveness after unlocking device
  • Applications – faster launching, exiting and switching
  • Home Screen – faster rendering and smoother transitions when switching between panes
  • Media – faster rendering of thumbnails in picture application
  • Email/Messaging – faster and smoother scrolling in message list and when reading email
  • Voice- Software improvements for improved audio quality

While this may not seem like a huge list, it will definitely add a little extra wick to your Torch.  The release bundle is marked 6.0.0.695 which will include Platform v6.4.0.105 and Application v6.0.0.246.  When (and if) you decide to update your Torch, please let us know in the comments below!

BlackBerry Theme Studio v6.0 beta available

Are you a theme developer or planning to get there? If so, get ready for BlackBerry 6 themes. The BlackBerry Theme Studio v6.0 beta-1 has officially been released. I’m excited about it and I can’t wait to see some great themes. Since the leaked screenshots from a while ago, I can’t wait to try this.

Up until now it only supports the BlackBerry Torch 9800 and Blackberry 6. Keep in mind that it’s a beta version and it’s recommended for experienced users only. There’s no full set of documentation, just a description of the new features.
