Hands-On Video Review of the BlackBerry Style 9670

I have been following the BlackBerry Style 9670 ever since it was mentioned several months ago. Contrary to popular opinion, I have always believed that there is a market for a smart flip phone with a full qwerty keyboard. As more about the phone is revealed I stand by my past statements made in prior posts supporting this form factor. I think this is a very smart move by RIM to take advantage of an untapped market, and look for other companies to jump on the bandwagon. But listen, check out this hands on video from Kevin Michaluk at CrackBerry.com and you be the judge.

The BlackBerry Style will come preloaded with OS 6, a 5MP camera, and 512MB of ram. Has your opinion of the BlackBerry Style 9670 changed at all? With a Halloween release one question remains, will this be a Trick or Treat for the clamshell? Give us your opinion below.

Telus Mobility will be adding the BlackBerry Style 9670 to their lineup

Hot on the heels of the BlackBerry Style 9670 announcement said to be a “Sprint Exclusive”, Telus Mobility has announced that it to will be offering a little Style to Canadian customers. But wait a minute, I thought exclusive means sole rights. Hmmm!  Anyway, Telus has officially confirmed they will be adding the BlackBerry Style to their lineup. Although date or price have not been released, rumors have surfaced pointing to late November. Here is the announcement made by Telus earlier today.

“Today Sprint announced that they will offer the BlackBerry Style 9670. I wanted to reach out to confirm that TELUS will be offering the BlackBerry Style here in Canada. Pricing and availability information still to come.”

Is anyone on Telus willing to give the BlackBerry Style a shot? Also, if someone could find out what the definition for exclusive is. Please leave your comments below.

BlackBerry Style 9670 promo materials making their way to Sprint stores

The BlackBerry Style/Oxford 9670 launch looks imminent for Sprint customers. The flyer boasts that Sprint will have exclusive rights to the device, as well as being the first CDMA, full qwerty flip smartphone to launch with BlackBerry 6. BlackBerry Style 9670 appears in Sprints internal systems

The BlackBerry Style 9670 just passed through the FCC systems and now there’s an internal shot of Sprints imagery material database which shows us that the BlackBerry Style is all ready to go for Sprint marketing now. It shouldn’t be too long until we see it being announced and then we might just have to wait another 60 days for release. What about you? Are you already excited to see this ‘Berry or will you stick with the one you own and love?

BlackBerry Style 9670 appears in FCC database

Well, look at that. The BlackBerry 9670, aka BlackBerry Style or the clamshell BlackBerry just showed up in the FCC database, waiting for approval. It carries the CDMA bands of Sprint and Verizon, as well as 802.11 b/g/n on board. Can’t wait to see this one hitting the market. Not because I want to get one, but I want to see if it’s a top seller or not and how much the people like it (or not).

BlackBerry Style video demos leaked

stylevideo

If you don’t like the Torch 9800 and are desperately waiting for another BlackBerry with BlackBerry 6, there’s some good news for you. The BlackBerry clamshell flip-phone – called the 9670 Style – made appearances in some demo videos on YouTube. The Style will have a full-QWERTY keyboard, CDMA, Wi-Fi, GPS, 240×320 external display resolution, 360×400 internal display resolution and a 5 megapixel camera. Actually I was hoping for some live-action hands-on video but those are fine for now. The demo videos show the zooming functionality, the home screen and the external display functionality. The zooming feature is actually pretty interesting though I still don’t really like the form factor of the phone.

Watch the videos and tell us what you think.
