Dream Themez for your BlackBerry!

JokerDreamTheme

Since it was a rather slow news day, I thought I would elaborate on a good way to customize your BlackBerry. A few customers I have ran into in the past few shifts of mine at my other job have complained to me about how their BlackBerry wasn’t very customizable. For the average user, it isn’t. Themes aren’t the easiest thing to find, installing them can be tedious if you don’t know what you’re doing, and RIM doesn’t really promote the use of themes outside of App World.

A few days ago I was browsing through Twitter and I stumbled upon what is Dream Themez by Donald Conrod, or @i_c_u_hater on Twitter. I’ve personally lost my interest in themes due to my being very picky and I can’t seem to find or make exactly what I want. So, I gave up and I just stick to stock, or pretty darn close to it. Even though I can’t get past my own pickiness, Donald’s Dream Themez are very nice, high quality themes. He has themes for the Storm/Storm2, Bold 9700 and 9000, Tour, Curve, Pearl, Pearl Flip, and a section for ladies only. If you’ve been in the market for some customization, hit up Dream Themez, you may find what you’ve been looking for there.

You can find Dream Themez by clicking here, and you can follow Donald on Twitter for updates on his themes.

T-Mobile starting trackball replacement program

If you own a BlackBerry Pearl 8100/8120 or Curve 8320 from T-Mobile, then this is some good news for you.  Starting February 15th, T-Mobile will replace any trackballs that are not working properly.  There will not be any charge for this, but your BlackBerry smartphone has to have been purchased from T-Mobile.  This is a great service that T-Mobile is starting up, I am sure all their BlackBerry customers will appreciate this.

Comparison: BlackBerry Pearl 9100 vs. Pearl 8130

Kevin at CrackBerry has obtained shots of the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 and the Pearl 8130.  Perhaps I’m being opinionated, but I think the Pearl 9100 blows its older sibling out of the water.  I absolutely love the design changes that RIM are implementing.  The beveled edges, chrome sides, rubberized side keys, and a battery back that resembles the Storm2.

Here’s the question: With the trackpad replacing the trackball (i.e. the Pearl itself), should the name be changed?  Hit the link for more pictures!

Deal: Walmart offering a $100 gift card with any BlackBerry purchase

The offer doesn’t begin until this Saturday at 8 AM (local time), but for those activating a Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, or T-Mobile BlackBerry on a two-year agreement, you may want to consider Walmart as your place of purchase.  In a deal running until November 20th, the nation’s largest retailer is offering a $100 Walmart gift card to anyone who picks up one of the following devices:

  • Verizon Storm
  • Verizon Storm2
  • AT&T Curve 8310
  • AT&T Bold 9000
  • Sprint Curve 8330 (all colors)
  • T-Mobile 8520 (all colors)
  • T-Mobile Pearl 8120 (Emerald)

Of note, the gift card is given at the time of purchase, meaning you don’t have to play the “mail and wait” game.  Sounds like a fair deal to me.  Anyone planning on picking up an early Christmas present this weekend?
