T-Mobile announces two summer additions, Fuchsia Curve 8520 and White Bold 9700

FuchsiaRed8520White9700

Our friends over at TmoNews have made us aware that T-Mobile has officially announced two summer additions to their BlackBerry line-up. The two devices announced aren’t anything we haven’t seen before, but getting a little color into the mix definitely doesn’t hurt. You can make a colorful Fuchsia Red Curve 8520 yours now for a 2-year contract price of $49.99, or the WhiteBerry 9700 for a decent $129.99 with a 2-year contract come May 26th. If you’re on T-Mobile and in the market for a new phone, get your color on folks!

As you all know, the past week we were a little behind on all of our news. There were quite a few changes being made behind the scenes, and we promise that that will not happen again, if there is any way around it.

All the links are after the jump. (Remember: Downloading and installing non-official builds is done at your own risk!)

RIM confirms plans to build plant in Brazil

So there had been rumors going around that RIM had plans of building a manufacturing plant in Brazil in the near future but there was no solid evidence. The evidence was provided this morning by one of the BerryReview’s Senior Editors who was attending a development seminar held by RIM in Brazil. It looks like Brazil is going to be making the 8520 and attempting to take on the BlackBerry Academic program as well.

It’s nice to see RIM expanding and progressing forward, but I have two words for the plant in Brazil, QUALITY CONTROL. If RIM and the plant there want to survive, they’re going to have to focus on quality control a lot more heavily than they have in the past.

Review: BlackBerry Curve 8530

86257-Curve8530_2

Much like the Curve 8520, the BlackBerry Curve 8530 is the “BudgetBerry” of the group. Sporting a few design changes, 3G connectivity and OS 5.0, it represents a continued push by RIM to appeal to first-time smartphone buyers. There’s a marked difference in build quality versus other BlackBerry models like the Storm2 and the Bold 9700. Other features include a full QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, a 2-megapixel camera, and RIM’s new trackpad. It’s relatively inexpensive and more durable than the other models on the market (thanks to the plastic build).  Will the 8530 deliver and provide the ever-so-popular BlackBerry experience?

BlackBerry Curve 8520 units showing up at AT&T

IMG00010-20091202-1325

Sure, the press release said that the device would land at AT&T in “the coming weeks,” but it looks as if the unit is already showing up in retail stores.  Unfortunately, it’s still notoriously absent from AT&T’s website (both on the consumer and business side), so it looks like we’re still a few days out.  Still, it’s worth calling up your local store(s) to see if they’re in stock.
