Rumored BlackBerry 9900 (aka: Magnum/Dakota/Pluto/Montana) appears in Vodafone’s Inventory System

I love rumors, especially around the holidays. The latest rumor comes to us courtesy of BestBoyz.de, (a smartphone blog site) and has caught fire. They happen to have in their possession a leaked German Vodafone’s inventory system screenshot for a battery door sporting the number 9900BB. Now none of this has been confirmed, but it definitely stirs the imagination. The BlackBerry 9900 was first mentioned back in 2009 (codename: Magnum/Dakota), and was forgotten about until August 2010. That was when the Dell App Store was spotted selling apps for the BlackBerry 9900 (codename: Pluto), and it’s now widely accepted that the 9900 became what we know today as the BlackBerry Torch 9800. With this latest rumor the BB 9900 pops back up on the radar with yet another codename, Montana. “You gotta love codenames”.

Let me refresh your memory a bit about the rumored specs for the BlackBerry 9900. It was said to be Bold like in appearance, but with a larger, higher resolution, 3-4 inch touch screen. Have a full qwerty non-slider keyboard, updated processor, camera and ram. Keep in mind though, everything I just mentioned is unofficial. That being said, this thing is freakin sweet!

What do you think? Is this just more or less typos? Or, do you think there is some truth to this mystery device? I know what I think, but we want to hear from you. Is this a form factor you would like to see? Leave your comments below.

Vodafone UK to release pay-as-you-go BlackBerrys

After o2, Vodafone UK is going to release a BlackBerry for pay-as-you-go, the Curve 9300 in red, of course. Along with the Curve 9300 there will be the Pearl 3G 9105 and the Curve 8520. I’m pretty happy about hearing more an more carriers throughout the world starting to add BlackBerrys to their pay-as-you-go plans, still I couldn’t find any here in Germany yet.

On vodafone.co.uk it says “Cooming soon”, make sure to register here if you want to know when it becomes available. According to BBLeaks the pay-as-you-go BlackBerrys should become available some time in October.

BlackBerry 9780 coming to Vodafone in white?

BlackBerryRumor

Please, take this rumor with a grain of salt, because it is just that.  A rumor.

But on a less serious note, it looks like we’re going to see the Bold refresh hitting Vodafone in the normal black that we’re used to, but also white!  I don’t know about you guys, but I find the white BlackBerrys a very fresh look.  We can only hope that the refresh in white won’t be exclusive to Vodafone, because I think there’s quite a few people who like the white BlackBerrys.  Give us your opinion though!  Flashy white or traditional black?

Vodafone and the 9800 bring you a romantic comedy

VodafoneAd

We’ve all grown accustomed to BlackBerry ads having the tendency to lack a ‘fun-ness’ to them.  They’re rather bland and boring, but Vodafone has just put out a commercial that speaks for itself. It’s definitely one that we can all relate with, and may make you chuckle a little bit. It’s good to see that ads are starting to trend in a more positive way. Give it a watch and let us know what you think of it!

BlackBerry Bold 9780 updated 3G Bands?

9780 3

Additional snapshots surfaced today courtesy of the folks over at Driphter of the soon to be released Blackberry Bold 9780. Earlier images of the devices about screen had only been seen with bands 1, 4 and 8. These bands are primarily assosiated with T-Mobile (USA), WIND Mobile, Mobilicity, Videotron (Canada), and band 8 is used overseas with carriers Optus and Vodafone. The images released today show 3G bands 1, 2, 5, and 6 used by major North American carriers  AT&T, Bell Mobility, Telus, and Rogers. This should give all GSM customers a glimmer of hope holding out for the more traditional BlackBerry form factor. Lets keep our fingers crossed that we won’t have to wait to much longer for a release date.

So which next generation BlackBerry do you prefer? The 9800 Slider, Storm 3, or are you more of a traditionalist and holding out for the Bold 9780? Some of you shiver at the thought of moving parts or a touchscreen/QWERTY combo phone. What Blackberry are you? Let us know in the comments below!

9800 is going to Bell, Telus, Virgin Mobile, Orange UK, and Vodafone UK

BlackBerry Torch 9800

After AT&T and RIM announced the new BlackBerry Torch 9800 it was just a matter of time until other carriers around the world would do so as well. All Canadian carriers have confirmed they will carry the Torch 9800 though there is no official release date yet. The usual mention “in the coming weeks” probably points to a launch at the end of Q3.

Official Rogers announcement: Redboard Blog
Virgin’s announcement: Twitter

Not just those of you living in Canada have something to be happy about: Orange UK and Vodafone UK have will carry the Torch 9800 as well.
For both there is no details on availability or pricing. Orange UK announced that it will be offered to its customers soon while Vodafone UK placed it on their website, where it says “Coming soon to pay monthly”. You can register for updates on availability on the Vodafone UK page.

Vodafone and Verizon have always worked pretty close together and now it will be very interesting if we get to see the Torch 9800 on Verizon as well. Also I’m pretty excited if Vodafone will announce the Torch 9800 for other countries as well since I’m still in Germany and waiting for it desperately.
