Nipping at the heels their release of the Blackberry Bold 9650, U.S.Cellular wastes no time in getting out their first update. Available today, OS 5.0.0.810 has just went live on RIM’s website. Talk about perfect timing! Sprint and Verizon Bold 9650 owners can join in on the fun as well. Remember, if you’re not on US Cellular, delete the vendor.xml file. For help on how to backup your data, head over to our How-To-Guide section if you have any questions. We know the official release of BlackBerry 6 for the Bold 9650 is on its way, but the question is who will be the first to release it? Personally, I can’t wait to have that slick new OS installed on my Bold. You can download OS 5.0.0.810 for the BlackBerry Bold 9650 here.
NOTE: Only attempt to upgrade your OS if you are comfortable doing so or know what you are doing. BBerryDog is not responsible for any damages to your phone in the process of upgrading your OS. Use all precautionary steps and back up all of your data before proceeding with the upgrade.

After months of rumors, U.S. Cellular has officially announced it will be offering the BlackBerry Bold 9650 starting on August 18th. This could not come at a better time due to the pending release of BlackBerry 6 operating system for the 9650. The Bold 9650 comes equipped with an optical trackpad as well as Wi-Fi and 3G support. In addition the Bold 9650 has a 3.2 megapixel camera, microSD supprot for cards up to 16GB, 512MB of flash memory, and a 2.4 inch, 480×360 high res display. Pricing has yet to be determined.
I can speak from experience that this is one of the best BlackBerrys to date. If you have your eyes set on a 9650, you will not be disappointed. Are you planning on picking a US Cellular Bold 9650 up tomorrow ? If so, let us know in the comments below.

Not to be outdone by their over-sized competitors, U.S. Cellular has announced via their Facebook page their intentions to launch the BlackBerry Bold 9650 sometime in “early August”. Depending on one’s definition of early August, we can probably expect to see the device showing up prior to August 10th (that’s our best guess, but we may be wrong). U.S. Cellular seems to be fairly excited about the launch, giving it high praise in their announcement:
We’re thrilled to announce that the new BlackBerry Bold 9650 will be coming to U.S. Cellular stores in early August! It’s got a 2.4 HVGA Display, 3.2MP camera, Wi-Fi, Optical Track Pad Navigation and World Phone capabilities. Yes, this is one great smartphone — if we may be so, ahem, bold.
How about it folks, are any of you planning to pick this one up come launch day? Let us know in the comments!

This screenshot that popped up on HowardForums reveals a little secret of US Cellular’s. There isn’t a lot of juicy information about it like we would all like to hear, but this mail-in rebate form shows that US Cellular has plans of getting the Bold 9650, and maybe even before Verizon releases it. Judging from the picture, I would be inclined to say that US Cellular will have the device available prior to July 15th, which isn’t saying much, but I don’t think it would be on this form if it wasn’t planned to be released before then.

After appearing on the website, complete with specs and a stock picture, US Cellular has gotten all official and launched the BlackBerry Tour 9630. With a 2.4-inch display, EVDO Rev. A, and a 3.2-megapixel camera, it can be had for $199.95 after a $70 mail-in rebate and a new two-year agreement. Because the Tour is a data device, US Cellular requires it to be on a $39.99 or higher monthly rate plan, as well as a $24.95 monthly data plan.
Several had asked me (via the tip line and Twitter) when the nation’s sixth largest carrier was going to pick up the popular BlackBerry device. Now that we have an official launch, who’s planning on getting one?
