I have been following the BlackBerry Style 9670 ever since it was mentioned several months ago. Contrary to popular opinion, I have always believed that there is a market for a smart flip phone with a full qwerty keyboard. As more about the phone is revealed I stand by my past statements made in prior posts supporting this form factor. I think this is a very smart move by RIM to take advantage of an untapped market, and look for other companies to jump on the bandwagon. But listen, check out this hands on video from Kevin Michaluk at CrackBerry.com and you be the judge.

The BlackBerry Style will come preloaded with OS 6, a 5MP camera, and 512MB of ram. Has your opinion of the BlackBerry Style 9670 changed at all? With a Halloween release one question remains, will this be a Trick or Treat for the clamshell? Give us your opinion below.

Sprint has been on top of their game in the past week rolling out update after update. Why should they stop now? This latest release is another OS 5 update, and is just about as close as you can get to OS 6 without actually releasing it. With that being said, Sprint and RIM have just officially released OS 5.0.0.983 available for the BlackBerry Bold 9650. I know what your thinking, because I’m thinking the same thing. Why would they release another OS 5 update when there are already leaked versions of OS 6 floating around. I wish I had a good answer for you, but I have ran out of excuses. If your interested in downloading OS 5.0.0.983 from Sprint, hit the link below.

Thanks to the tip dropped by Kingofrage, we now know that Sprint has released an official update for the BlackBerry Curve 8530. OS 5.0.0.973 has officially hit RIM’s website and is available for download for those of you who are interested. I know this is not the OS 6 update that BlackBerry users have been patiently (or not) been waiting for, but it’s a step in the right direction. Some will say this is nothing more than wishful thinking, but I still remain optimistic that RIM will include the Curve 8530 in the OS 6 device updates. Click on the link below to download the official update for the BlackBerry Curve 8530, and remember to backup your data prior to installation.

Sprint just launched their new national Certified Pre-owned Device Program.

You want to get a new BlackBerry but the one’s on the market right now are far too expensive for you? Well, then here’s some good news for you. Sprint just launched their new national Certified Pre-owned Device Program. So now you can get refurbished devices at a lower price. Aside from devices like the Samsung Reclaim and the Sanyo 2700, you can also get the BlackBerry Tour for $79.99 or even at $29.99 with a new two year contract. That’s a good choice if you want a BlackBerry but don’t want to pay a lot for the device.

Read through Sprint’s official reasons why pre-owned devices are a great option to have:

- You get innovative devices at an exceptional value!
Sprint Certified Pre-owned devices are a great value. You can get an exceptional, feature-rich Pre-owned device with features comparable to a new phone at a lower price.
- They are in like-new condition
These devices are thoroughly inspected, tested and, if necessary, remanufactured. Each device comes with the same 30-day Return Policy as any other device from Sprint.
Every Certified device is:
Prepared for resale by facilities certified by the original manufacturer of the device
Subjected to a comprehensive 30+ point quality checklist to ensure compliance to Sprint standards
Inspected for any cosmetic defects to make sure your device looks like new
Returned to factory default settings
Updated to the most current system software
- It’s good for the environment
Besides making economic sense, buying s Sprint Certified Pre-Owned device also makes sense for the environment. Reusing 1,000 mobile phones instead of recycling them saves enough electricity (39,790 kilowatt hours) to power four U.S. households for a year.

To sum it up:
Every pre-owned device get’s inspected, is updated to the latest software and returned to factory default settings. To me that’s a great option, so if you’re on Sprint or plan on getting a contract on Sprint, why not give it a try?

What do you think about refurbished pre-owned devices? Would you consider buying one or would you rather prefer a new device?

The BlackBerry Oxford 9670 (also referred to as the clamshell and Style) is definitely a piece of hardware that makes a lot of people question RIM and others rejoice. I’ve never been a huge fan of clamshell devices, or anything that flips or slides for that matter, but some people are rejoicing at the fact that RIM is accommodating for those who do enjoy different styles of smartphones, but I digress. The boys over at BGR have been forwarded a slide from a reputable Sprint contact with juicy information on the Oxford.

On October 31st, the Oxford will release in a gray variation at $99.99 with a $100 mail-in rebate. The Oxford sports a 5MP camera, EVDO Rev A, BlackBerry 6, full QWERTY keyboard with trackpad, WiFi and GPS, microSD card slot, and stereo Bluetooth. These specs are on par with all of the other BlackBerry devices launching these days, so we’re not seeing anything especially new here other than a late 90′s form factor. According to the slide, a purple variant is also “coming soon.” What say you folks? Who’s down with a flip smartphone and who plans on getting one on the 31st?
