White BlackBerry Torch 9800 and Bold 9780 dummy units show up at Rogers Wireless

The white BlackBerry Torch 9800 and Bold 9780 dummy units have been spotted at Rogers Wireless, and both looking very enticing. The Torch 9800 will set you back $229.99 on a 3-year contract, and the Bold 9780 will run $149.99 for 3-years. The actual devices will be arriving shortly, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. As soon as launch date information becomes available I will update this post.

Love the white Bold 9780, but to me these prices seem kinda high for a 3-year contract. Do they seem high to you, or is this normal? Comment below.

BlackBerry Bold 9780 now available from Rogers

The Bold 9780 is making it’s way through Canada and it’s available from Rogers right now. If you’re with Rogers, head over to the Rogers website and place your order. While TELUS offers you the Bold 9780 for $99 on a three year contract, the Rogers version costs you $149.99 on a three year contract. If you’re not feeling to well with a contract, you might want to pick it up for $499 without a contract.

Anyone of you Rogers customers out there already placed their orders?

BlackBerry Bold 9780 pricing from Best Buy

Best Buy has released a sales ad showcasing the BlackBerry Bold 9780 along with pricing from Bell, Rogers, and Virgin Mobile. It breaks down like this, on a 3-year contract the Bold 9780 will run you $149.99. If you choose not to go with a contract, the 9780 will set you back $499.99. The latest rumor for a release date is November the 9th, but this has not been confirmed.

It’s been noted that Telus is the only Canadian provider not included in the above ad. Here is the thing though, when I go to Best Buy’s website and search for the Bold 9780, Telus is the only carrier that pops up. Telus is showing a 3-year contract with the phone costing only $99.99. Without a contract the price is $499.99. Here is the official description on Best Buy’s website.

The question I have is this, with leaks dropping every other day for OS 6, is it worth picking this up when it becomes available, or will you simply install OS 6 on your 9700, and pass on the 9780? Leave your comments below.

Rogers has already confirmed they will be releasing the Bold 9780, yet no words on an actual launch date or pricing. Typically, it doesn’t take too long for a launch, once dummy devices arrived in stores.

Update For Rogers BlackBerry Bold 9700 and Curve 3G 9300 Provides UMA Support

BlackBerry Bold 9700 Rogers

Back on the 14th, Canadian carrier, Rogers, updated their BlackBerry Bold 9700 and Curve 3G 9300 smartphones with UMA support. For those of us who use Rogers as their mobile provider, this is a big deal. The updates are OS v5.0.0.846 and v5.0.0.862 respectively. UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access) support allows users to make voice calls over a Wi-Fi network. The result is a positive one; users utilize Wi-Fi networks to make calls, saving minutes, and as a result, saving money on their monthly cell phone bill – the one “side-affect” of our pocket companions.

For the updates, click here and follow the detailed instructions provided. If you have UMA enabled already, let us know how you’re loving the Wi-Fi call ability.

A red BlackBerry Bold 9780 for Rogers found on Craigslist

If you’re willing to pay a small fortune for a pre-release version of the 9780, here’s your chance! A red Bold 9780 ready for use on Rogers has been spotted on Craigslist and can be yours for a mere $950. It’s very rare to see a pre-release model in color variations, but I suppose it’s perfectly plausible. Like Bla1ze of CrackBerry stated, it could just be aftermarket housing. I know the battery door doesn’t look OEM, but who knows, RIM loves changing battery doors on us. One thing is for sure though, it is a BlackBerry 9780. So, if you feel like coughing up the money for what may not even really be a true red 9780, head on over to Craigslist and email the seller. Also, if you’re here in the states, this one will be shipping out of Vancouver, so you may need to ask about shipping first.
