Rumored BlackBerry 9900 (aka: Magnum/Dakota/Pluto/Montana) appears in Vodafone’s Inventory System

I love rumors, especially around the holidays. The latest rumor comes to us courtesy of BestBoyz.de, (a smartphone blog site) and has caught fire. They happen to have in their possession a leaked German Vodafone’s inventory system screenshot for a battery door sporting the number 9900BB. Now none of this has been confirmed, but it definitely stirs the imagination. The BlackBerry 9900 was first mentioned back in 2009 (codename: Magnum/Dakota), and was forgotten about until August 2010. That was when the Dell App Store was spotted selling apps for the BlackBerry 9900 (codename: Pluto), and it’s now widely accepted that the 9900 became what we know today as the BlackBerry Torch 9800. With this latest rumor the BB 9900 pops back up on the radar with yet another codename, Montana. “You gotta love codenames”.

Let me refresh your memory a bit about the rumored specs for the BlackBerry 9900. It was said to be Bold like in appearance, but with a larger, higher resolution, 3-4 inch touch screen. Have a full qwerty non-slider keyboard, updated processor, camera and ram. Keep in mind though, everything I just mentioned is unofficial. That being said, this thing is freakin sweet!

What do you think? Is this just more or less typos? Or, do you think there is some truth to this mystery device? I know what I think, but we want to hear from you. Is this a form factor you would like to see? Leave your comments below.

Telus now offering the BlackBerry Bold 9780 online

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 can now be purchased via Telus online starting at $99.99 on a three year contract. On a two year contract the price increases to $399.99, a one year $449.99, and $499.99 without a contract. As of now, the Bold 9780 is not available for in store purchases, but that has not been confirmed either way.

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 is the predecessor to the Bold 9700. They both have the same form factor, however there are notable upgrades worth mentioning. The 9780 comes preinstalled with BlackBerry OS 6, a 5MP camera, 624MHz processor, and the ram has been doubled to 512mb.

Click here to check out the BlackBerry Bold 9780 at Telus online.

Just one thing sticks out at me when looking at the Bold 9780 though, the PRICE…  $399.99 on a two year contract. For another hundred bucks you can by the phone outright. Come on Telus, give us a break. Who are you trying to kid, us or yourselves? Anyone else think this is a little on the highside? Who’s gonna purchase the Bold 9780, and for how much? Comment below.

BlackBerry Bold 9780 pricing from Best Buy

Best Buy has released a sales ad showcasing the BlackBerry Bold 9780 along with pricing from Bell, Rogers, and Virgin Mobile. It breaks down like this, on a 3-year contract the Bold 9780 will run you $149.99. If you choose not to go with a contract, the 9780 will set you back $499.99. The latest rumor for a release date is November the 9th, but this has not been confirmed.

It’s been noted that Telus is the only Canadian provider not included in the above ad. Here is the thing though, when I go to Best Buy’s website and search for the Bold 9780, Telus is the only carrier that pops up. Telus is showing a 3-year contract with the phone costing only $99.99. Without a contract the price is $499.99. Here is the official description on Best Buy’s website.

Leave your comments below.

BlackBerry Bold 9700 gets official OS 5.0.0.979 from AT&T

UPDATE: I am starting to see more and more positive reviews for the OS 6 leak. Check out what Ashley wrote in the comments below.

For those of us who downloaded the leaked OS 6 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700, and have learned that it is a complete pile of dung (replace dung as needed). AT&T has released OS 5.0.0.979 for the 9700, and this one is official. If your with a different carrier you will have to delete the vendor.xml file to install. As always, backup your data to be on the safe side. Also, please direct any negative comments concerning the leaked OS 6 to Taylor Martin, he made me post it.

Here is the link to download the official OS 5.0.0.979 from AT&T.

If you need help we have a complete How-To Guide section on our website. If you have questions about How-To Backup your data, or How-To Upgrade your OS, click on the links that are highlighted. Again you can thank Taylor for creating these guides. He does have a heart, though it’s mostly black. Just kidding, please don’t fire me.

Anyway, if your planning on downgrading or upgrading, let us know how OS 5.0.0.979 works for you. If you have any questions use the comment section below and we will do our best to answer them for you. Thanks.

Red BlackBerry 9780 may be headed our way, Jersey Shore give it two fist pumps

We just recently saw the 9780 news officially drop last week, with a laundry list of carriers confirming that they will be carrying the device.  As far as we can tell, this video is truly a 9780, but it is in a test environment.  The 9780 has not (and possibly will not) shown up in red in pre-orders, so only time will tell

I have to say… I have seen some ugly phones in my day, but this has to be the ugliest BlackBerry that I’ve ever seen.  BlackBerrys (beside the Pearl) have always had an executive look to them (half of the reason that I liked them so darn much).  Even the white Bold still had a pristine and dignified look.  A red Bold is just another step in the wrong direction for RIM, at least in my opinion.  Let me know what you guys think!  Red BlackBerry Bold, pass or fail?

BlackBerry 9650 could be preloaded with BlackBerry 6 in near future?

Rebate forms are often a carrier or manufacturers way of leaking a little tidbit out, whether accidental or not.  The latest rebate from from Verizon shows two new SKU’s regarding the 9650.  While this is purely speculation, we can safely assume that the 9650 may soon see BlackBerry 6!  If that is the case, this will be the first Bold device to get bumped up, and on the carrier that seems to be notoriously slow with upgrades no less!

So how many of you have a 9650 and are looking for a nice upgrade?  Also, if you plan on staying with OS5, let us know in the comments below!

BlackBerry Curve 3G coming to WIND Mobile confirmed

Remember the BlackBerry Curve 3G showing up on the WIND Mobile website even though it didn’t belong to the actual line up? Well, now the device has shown up in WIND Mobile’s inventory system. There are two listings, so there’s going to be two colors available. The guys from BGR assumed that there will be a gray or black and something a little more brighter available. No words or information on pricing or an actual release date yet.

Is anyone of you already waiting for the device to hit the carrier?

AT&T confirms red and white BlackBerry Torch 9800 coming November 7th

As already expected, AT&T finally confirmed the release of the white and red BlackBerry Torch. They’re going to launch November 7th, as announced in their holiday press release. No words on pricing yet but unless there’s going to be a holiday promotion, thy’ll pretty much be the same as the BlackBerry Torch already available from AT&T – so it’s $199.99 with a new 2 year contract.

Personally, I’m a fan of the white Torch, although my white Bold 9700 turned blue after some time. What do you guys think? Do you prefer the original design or do you like the red or white better?
