UPDATE: I am starting to see more and more positive reviews for the OS 6 leak. Check out what Ashley wrote in the comments below.

For those of us who downloaded the leaked OS 6 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700, and have learned that it is a complete pile of dung (replace dung as needed). AT&T has released OS 5.0.0.979 for the 9700, and this one is official. If your with a different carrier you will have to delete the vendor.xml file to install. As always, backup your data to be on the safe side. Also, please direct any negative comments concerning the leaked OS 6 to Taylor Martin, he made me post it.

Here is the link to download the official OS 5.0.0.979 from AT&T.

If you need help we have a complete How-To Guide section on our website. If you have questions about How-To Backup your data, or How-To Upgrade your OS, click on the links that are highlighted. Again you can thank Taylor for creating these guides. He does have a heart, though it’s mostly black. Just kidding, please don’t fire me.

Anyway, if your planning on downgrading or upgrading, let us know how OS 5.0.0.979 works for you. If you have any questions use the comment section below and we will do our best to answer them for you. Thanks.

As already expected, AT&T finally confirmed the release of the white and red BlackBerry Torch. They’re going to launch November 7th, as announced in their holiday press release. No words on pricing yet but unless there’s going to be a holiday promotion, thy’ll pretty much be the same as the BlackBerry Torch already available from AT&T – so it’s $199.99 with a new 2 year contract.

Personally, I’m a fan of the white Torch, although my white Bold 9700 turned blue after some time. What do you guys think? Do you prefer the original design or do you like the red or white better?

Torch users, AT&T is throwing you a huge bone. Despite the fact that you’ve been able to surpass all the current BlackBerrys in, well, everything, you’re about to get another performance boost. The PR release states that those who upgrade will have:

Browser – faster page loading and improved panning

User input – handled more efficiently, improved responsiveness after unlocking device

Applications – faster launching, exiting and switching

Home Screen – faster rendering and smoother transitions when switching between panes

Media – faster rendering of thumbnails in picture application

Email/Messaging – faster and smoother scrolling in message list and when reading email

Voice- Software improvements for improved audio quality

While this may not seem like a huge list, it will definitely add a little extra wick to your Torch. The release bundle is marked 6.0.0.695 which will include Platform v6.4.0.105 and Application v6.0.0.246. When (and if) you decide to update your Torch, please let us know in the comments below!

AT&T and T-Mobile (along with Transit Wireless LLC) may soon be offering cell service underground in the Subway trains, so that commuters can use their phones on the go, while on the subway train without worry. For daily commuters that lose their signal while in transit via subway, this would be huge news for them. It could also be a scale tipper for someone trying to decide between carriers that offer and carriers that do not offer the enhanced services in subway tunnels. Below is

AT&T Inc. and T-Mobile USA customers will have mobile-phone service on New York City subway stations after the carriers signed 10-year agreements to access an underground network being built by Transit Wireless LLC.

AT&T, the second-largest U.S. wireless carrier, and Deutsche Telekom AG’s T-Mobile will have the option to renew the contracts four times in increments of five years each, said Pat Smith, a spokesman for closely held Transit Wireless.

Transit Wireless said in July it secured new financing to build the network for New York’s 277 underground subway stations. The deal rejuvenated a plan that had been delayed for about three years.

This would be a major event for NYC and the participants if this does go through. Stay tuned and we will keep you update if there are details leaked.

The 9700, as I have said before, is most likely the best device out there at this time (unless you like touchscreens, at which point TORCH!). The 9780, a refresh device, will mainly be a slight upgrade on the 9700 that has remained so popular since it’s release. The 9780 will reportedly be the first non-touchscreen device to ship with BlackBerry 6. Below, we have a TechnoBuffalo video, as well as a video from a Vietnamese site by the name of Mainguyen.

When it comes to commercials, iPhone and Android may have outrun RIM and BlackBerry, yet I always was a fan of the typical BlackBerry commercials. Since the Torch launched on AT&T we’ve seen a couple of fresh commercials and now there’s another one, this time telling the story of Moby Dick. I really like the commercial, it’s not the usual but it shows off the device and does a good job in showing the capabilities of BlackBerry 6 on the Torch 9800. Really, I wish we had commercials like this in Germany, I feel like we only get the most boring commercials ever made. Feel free to leave a comment, I’d love to hear what’s your favorite BlackBerry commercial.
Enough of the talk already, go on and watch it yourself:

Congratulations to the good folks in marketing over at AT&T. It seems as though someone has actually done their research on RIM and realized that the BlackBerry is in fact a business smartphone. As featured in the newest release in the slew of commercials from AT&T, the BlackBerry Torch is sold as a business device putting together plans for a fashion show. The device is seen sending e-mails (that goes without saying), viewing item forecast presentations on a slide-show to-go app, and receiving sales orders through Gmail. Lets not forget the smooth multi-touch WebKit browser.

Now that they are selling the handset as what it’s intended for, I think the Torch may have some hope. What are your thoughts on the new commercial? Do you see any hope for the device and its intended use? Or will it sell more handbags featured in the commercial than the actual phone?
