Trillian for BlackBerry in the “next few days”

I can remember way back when, when Trillian was the program to have on your computer. The days of AIM, Yahoo IM, and pretty much any singular instant message program were over. Now it’s moving on over to our BlackBerrys, and it just makes me laugh. Personally, the only instant message service (other than BBM of course) that I use on my BlackBerry is Gtalk. If I could get half-decent support for Facebook IM I would use that as well, but I can stick to texting my friends.

For those of you that use multiple clients and want to consolidate down to a single program, Trillian can be your IM+ substitute. I could never imagine where any BlackBerry application would be worth $39.95. Trillian is said to be coming to BlackBerry App World in the “next few days” according to CrackBerry, and will only set you back $5-10. Some of the features will include:

  • Send pictures
  • Stay signed on for up to 7 days with the application closed
  • Contact avatars
  • Manage your contact list – group contacts, rename contact list items, sorting and offline contact preferences
  • Alerts and notifications: LED alert, email push notifications, full integration with standard profiles
  • Set local display name, set local avatar
  • Copy & paste in message windows
  • Privacy managment (blocking, visibility controls, etc)
  • View user information (AIM profiles, etc)

It’s shaping up to what looks to be a very nice applications packed with quite a few features. We will keep you posted if we hear anything else about it.
