For some of you that have been with BlackBerry for a while now, we’ve had to stick it out through some rough times. For instance, when EDGE and 3G were introduced to the blooming mobile world, all of us BlackBerry users were patiently waiting for RIM to adopt the new standard technology. This time around, it seems as if BlackBerry has jumped on the LTE bandwagon at the right time (before it actually hits the market). RIM is allegedly one of the manufacturers currently working on an LTE phone for Verizon Wireless according to CEO Lowell McAdam. We have a minimum of a six month wait before we will see any LTE live here in the US but the wait for an LTE phone was projected to be even further out. Maybe RIM can be the first to release an LTE capable phone.
RIM has a history of being a slow adopter (touchscreens, EDGE, 3G, flip phones, etc.) and very conservative, but it’s very good to see them realizing that it has hindered them in many ways. Hopefully with the release of BlackBerry 6, an LTE capable BlackBerry, and more risky designs coming from RIM, we will see them secure their seat at the top. They’ve been up there for a while and we know they don’t want to come down.
