Mauricio over at BlackBerryRocks.com posted earlier today about the radiation levels emitted by the Bold 9700. Environmental Working Group (EWG) provided the listings in their article which can be found here. The 9700 tops the charts for phones from 2010 on its exposure level followed closely by the Motorola DROID. Is radiation exposure something to be worried about, or is it harmless nonsense? For the full list of phones and their radiation levels EWG has a database available here. Click the link to continue reading.

The more manufacturers pack into phones, the more talk we all hear about radiation exposure. Some find all the talk about radiation to be blown out of proportion, other are a bit worried over what can come of this exposure from long-term use. I’m on the fence on this one only for one reason. With all of the different phones I’ve had in the past few years, I was never concerned with any talk about radiation exposure. Now that I have a Bold 9700 and it’s showing the highest W/kg values (not that I fully understand what that means), I feel like I should care a little more. If it wasn’t for the burning sensation I get from my 9700 when it’s in my pocket I would probably just brush this talk off. Also, if I’m talking on the phone for a long time, the phone gets very hot, which is normal, but I tend to get a headache. This does raise a few questions but it doesn’t mean I’m going to get rid of my BlackBerry anytime soon. I may consider using a Bluetooth though. Even though the levels are higher and I’m actually feeling the impact of it, I feel like the FCC wouldn’t pass a phone that emitted dangerous levels of radiation, though I could be wrong.

So you think it is a good idea to get a BlackBerry Bold 9700? I am really thinking about getting one, as everybody in my company uses a BlackBerry.
The Bold 9700 is one of the best BlackBerry’s to date. I’ve never had a single problem out of mine.
