One thing I never turn down is accessories for my BlackBerry. A few weeks back I bought a Remote Stereo Gateway (Yes, I know it’s been out for a while.) just to mess around with, and I absolutely love the thing. It’s very simple, and it works amazingly. Hit the link to continue reading and for pictures.
Design
The design of the Remote Stereo Gateway is very simple. It has a touch button on the top, a chrome bezel around the outer edge, and a rubberized bottom to keep it in place. There is one LED indicator on the top side against the bezel, and directly across from it on the side of the device are the two ports. One is a miniUSB port for the power source and the other is the auxiliary out. It’s very sleek and very pocketable. I take it with me every day. I just throw it in my pocket, plug it up in my car, in my room, every where.
Setup
The setup of the device is as easy as it gets. When you plug it in for the first time it goes straight into pairing mode (LED flashes red and blue). Once you have paired the device with your BlackBerry, it will automatically attempt to connect to your device whenever you turn Bluetooth on. When the two devices are paired, use the 3.5mm auxiliary cable that came with it in the box and plug it into any set of speakers with an auxiliary-in port, and select some music on the phone to play. It doesn’t get any simpler than that.
Quality
I’m no audio junkie by any means, but I still like music with decent quality. I haven’t noticed any bad quality coming from the gateway, but I also haven’t plugged it into any really nice speakers. I imagine someone looking to retain as much audio quality as possible wouldn’t be using a Bluetooth gateway in the first place, but for your average person that just wants to stream music wirelessly, it doesn’t get any better than this at the moment.
Price
The price of this device is a little much for what it does. Ranging from $50-$80 it doesn’t do enough for that price. Keep in mind though, this accessory is from about two years ago, and the higher price would make a little more sense. I can’t see paying $50 for something like this today with all of the different Bluetooth devices available and how far the technology has come in the past two years.
Pros
- Lightweight
- Small
- Sharp design
- Simple
- Good audio quality
Cons
- No internal battery
- Touch button is too sensitive

I purchased this device over a year ago and let me tell you it has been worth every penny…I’ve hooked it up to my BOSE sysetm at home and the quality is excellent. My wife has an iPhone and she even connects to the device to play all her music. A simple yet great device that I think is a must have if you want to play music on external speakers from your Blackberry…and as mentioned above it a perfect size, very pocketable that you can take it anywhere with you. Two thumbs up here!!
