Boost Mobile to start carrying BlackBerry Curve 8330

boost1

Huge news on the prepaid front this evening, as a source has confirmed to Boy Genius Report that Boost Mobile will be receiving the BlackBerry Curve 8330.  The Curve 8330 will join Boost line on January 13th, and will have a $249 price tag.  Boost Mobile plans will offer unlimited calling, text messaging, and web browsing, and will be $70/monthly for Curve users.

The fact that the BlackBerry Curve 8330 is a CDMA (operating on the “Sprint” MVNO side) device makes it a deal to me, along with the unlimited service for $70.  Why spend $99 monthly on a Sprint Curve 8330, or $149.99 with Verizon and AT&T when you can spend $70 monthly on a Boost Mobile Curve 8330?

What do you think – postpaid or prepaid?  Or better yet, is it worth waiting until a newer BlackBerry lands on the provider?

I’m a little curious about this. Good move by Boost…this will be great for them. But if they’re going to carry a BlackBerry, and they’re IDEN, why wouldn’t it be the 8350i?

  4. Aaron Baker says:

Though they’re not always sold in retail stores, Boost carries CDMA devices as well (though they’re down to just one – the W385 – right now). Over the years, they’ve fluctuated back and forth between primarily CDMA, primarily iDEN, and half and half. The Curve is rumored to join the Incognito and Mirro, so it will be nice to see more CDMA in the lineup again.

  5. Boost Authorized Dealer says:

Boost is actually going Nationwide ROLL OUT of the CDMA unlimited plan. currentlt it is only available in certain states, primarly california. They are rolling out the CDMA unlimited all over the country with the already existing Motorola W385 as well as adding the Blackberry curve 8330, Sanyo Incognito QWERTY keyboard phone (touch sensitive external keypad as well) and Sanyo mirro basic flip camera phone. The blackberry curve will require a $70 plan, though the other phones will only need the $50 unlimited plan that boost is currently offering. Though it is not for sure, both plans will most likely not require the consumer to pay telecom taxes or sales taxes, as they are already included.

  6. Rob says:

Why would you want a IDEN Blackberry? The IDEN network stinks!!!! People complain about the service on Nextel/Boost forever. Boost Price lines, the Sprint Network, and most popular phone on the market right now. That’s a POWERFUL combination!!!! WOW!

  7. Boost Authorized Dealer says:

UPDATE: The blackberry plan on the boost mobile CDMA is $60 and not $70. The BB Curve 8330 by boost, comes with a 1 GB memory card, pouch, and headset. Also, Sanyo mirro is available along with the curve. Sanyo incognito will soon arrive in stores. Monthly unlimited plan for NON PDA phones will remain at $50.

  8. 8350i powered by Boost Mobile says:

I have the 8350i on the iDen Network, paying $50 a month and its great, all I have to do is a little workaround and I have all I need for $50 a month (UNLIMITED: talk, SMS/MMS, web, Direct Connect, IM, push email)

Now for $10 more a month, with a good price on the phone…$249.99 for the CDMA 8330 that runs off of all of Sprint’s CDMA towers you get everything (UNLIMITED: talk, text, 3G web, push email, and Blackberry Messenger)

Its about time that Boost Mobile got an actual BlackBerry!! metroPOS sucks don’t buy from their Shi++y company

  9. Ian says:

Yes!!! i been waiting for this for boost to start rolling out cdma phones with a qwerty keyboard, i could care less about the crapberry i just want the sayno incognito. Now i have a reason to switch from virgin to boost. thx boost you guys rock.

  10. lullabyprelude says:

Ian, Sanyo sucks, the best phone brand out there is BlackBerry… Obama doesn’t have a gay iPhone or SamSuck, or Sanyo, he has a Blackberry.
BlackBerry can be customized, they can be user repaired. Every part on the phone, any model can be replaced and they also have a theme builder where you can make yout own. BEST CELL PHONE MAKER EVER!

    • Boost Authorized Dealer says:

Actually sanyo does not suck. I have personally used the incognito and it is a great phone. Now am not saying that sanyo makes better phones then RIM. Because i use a blackberry tour myself, and love it. But also, the blackberry costs twice as much as a incognito (incognito $129, BB curve for boost $249) and not everybody can afford it.

  11. lullabyprelude says:

I currently have working: BB 9630 Tour, BB 8330 Curve, BB 8350i Curve all on boost mobiles $50 Monthly Unlimited and soon to have aHTC Touch Pr2o

  12. Pedro says:

Now, could I theoretically get a Sprint Blackberry, add the MEID and all that jazz on my Boost account, would that work?

Sprint BB on the Boost BB plan?

Do you think Boost would support OTA Programming for a non-boost phone? This plan could be even better if I could pick up a slightly used BB for waaaay less than $250.

    Know what I mean?

  13. gjsteven2 says:

i have boost iden and have a working blackberry 8350i. everything works fine except for the blackberry function..like bbm etc…i was wondering if anybody knew how to get the blackberry 9630 to work on the boost cdma network. will they connect it if i just call? and would all of the functions work because they now have a blackberry plan?? thanks to anyone who can help….

    • Boost Authorized Dealer says:

No, boost will not activate sprint branded phones, YET. If someone can flash a phone or modify the software somehow then thats a different sotry, and also ilegall. The 8330 by boost only costs $249, brand new with a warranty. Why would you buy a used blackberry for like $150 and pay someone like $50-$70 just to flash it, and then not even be guranteed that everything will work like it is supposed to?

  14. Joshua says:

I have a smart phone nextel i920 that I receive email, and surf the web, and do facebook on for boost and it works just fine, and get this I still pay only 50 bucks a month~!

  15. Teufelhund says:

Lullabyprelude. How/Where did you get your unlocked Sprint 9630 FLASHED to Boost?

  16. No sé bien cómo llegué a tu blog. Me gustó mucho!. Saludos!

  17. Fleur says:

Hey can you use a blackberry bold that’s unlocked with boost mobile????
