Need movie times and nowhere around your computer? No worries, Fandango has come to the rescue. With Fandango you can either find your location using the GPS in your BlackBerry, or you can enter the Zip Code for the area that you want to search movie times for.
When searching for movies, you have the option to search movies that are “Coming Soon,” “In Theaters,” “Opening This Week,” “Top Box Office,” “In the Spotlight,” and “Near Me.” This breaks down searching for movies into a fairly simple procedure. When you select a movie, it breaks down movie times by different theaters. You can search movie times by day and can get additional information on the different theaters. This additional information includes a mapped location, the phone number to the theater, and it also gives all of the movies playing and their show times for that specific day.
With each movie, you have the ability to get more details about the movie, watch the movie trailer straight from the application, and read user reviews. The initial view of the movie will give you the rating, release date, and fan rating. The movie details include cast, director, genre, and a short synopsis. Be careful if you decide to watch the trailer, when I watched the trailer for Avatar, all of my keys were disabled and there was no way to back out of it after it started. It seemed to may my BlackBerry go crazy for a short while after as well. The only way to stop the trailer after it starts is to do a battery pull. If you like what you see after watching the trailer, you can simply buy tickets straight from the application itself for all theaters that support mobile ticket purchasing.
When I first installed Fandango, I expected it to be just another application with a lack of features, but much to my surprise, it is a very useful application with tons of hidden features. With every page, more and more features pop up. I never expected to have an application even come close to competing with my favorite, Poynt, but Fandango is definitely a competitor.
